Spirituality and Hip-Hop: State of Affairs

I see the problem with these rappers today
Constantly bragging about a payday
Money rules while consciousness is booed
Stuck in a state of confused melee
This culture of mixed races
Sea of Brown faces
Different ethnicities create the beat the universal drum makes
That drum drums right into us
the need to focus on uplifting us

But they survive the rough and take the easy route
Even my favorite comedian David Chappelle will sell out
Some unphased and unfussed
Until they’re tazed and handcuffed; then they mope and shout
Must defend Self now
But don’t ask for handouts
Main proclaim after freedom gained is, “Go buy my album now.”
Fund my million dollar house
I say purchase some land instead
Plot a plan – architect, think like a man
No time is spent exploring history
“Hours of time ignoring history
At the forefront of our forethought
Are we really that far gone mentally?”

That’s what’s missing!
Besides reading and comprehension
We are just existing
Minds on a vacany
Light on, nobody home, souls not awakening
We take just enough pain to make our sorrows less rough
Selling death and destruction from one generation to the next one
You need to ascend to the next level up
Your minds are more than disheveled mush
Tell me when are we gonna stop harping proof
Trying hard to prove
What the mirror sees through
Be equal to your higher self or be a damn fool
We should attain to be better than
When our ancestors ruled the roost; They didn’t know that they were trapped, but only in the physical
Slave laborers but still men, whipped by spiritual evils
These people had no egos
They had strong wills to survive just like we do
They did more for their masters than their family tree roots
They had no choice then, but now we know that we do
Things like forced parenting and how now we are constantly questioning our worthiness and
Look at how the promised land
We are blessed to live in
To have and to hold
From one generation to the next is – Black America’s Worst Expression
The etymology of the word black meant pale or colorless, as in:
Devoid of color; see how they casually reverse spin
There’s nothing simple about a definition
How the faces that many fit in
Are mostly mixed with a repressive mix
Of altered DNA inventions
Our ancestors expressed for centuries at a time
That our children are up next
We must strengthen the family ties
What’s destined cannot be ignored
No more curses invoked with lies
We are the future of a people that have since the beginning of time
Relied on bodies and minds
To feed off the light granted us
Through the spirit of the divine
He sees everything we dream of
This is the chance to move up Welcoming all to join in

My family members always say that I am killing my
time here at net, however I know I am getting know-how daily by reading such pleasant content.
