Ten Random Things About Turning 30

  1. I’m still 25 years away from being considered a senior citizen.
  2. I have now joined an entirely new demographic (age) for taking surveys and tests. 30-39
  3. I can run for President in 5 years!
  4. I’m not 40 yet? (ouch)
  5. My 19 year old sister calls me “old”, but in preparation I had already gotten over the idea that turning 30 is a life altering experience which I must cower in feat at the thought of.
  6. I still have enough time to try out almost all of the positions of the Kama Sutra.
  7. I’ve finally come to the realization that I lost my youth back in my 20s, but I’m still going to be a big kid even when I’m 50.
  8. I’ve stopped saying “I want to do/be” about a lot of things and I’m doing or attempting to do most everything I set my mind to instead.
  9. Pension, Savings and 401K’s started to become important to me in my latter 20s, but now I consider them to be the most serious investments I’ll ever make on me and my family’s future.
  10. I’m constantly learning more about myself and I’m comfortable in my own skin. I’m the most content I’ve ever been. I am a confident, assertive, intelligent, well-spoken soft-stud who can hold her own in any situation.

I'll second all of the above (except for the being a soft-stud part) in 4 yrs! 🙂 30 is a great age from what im told. I'll kinda be happy to get out of my 20s. I didnt believe my dad a looong time ago when he use to say 20's are typically the most difficult to endure because u r struggling to find your identity and make your place in the world. I didnt understand that back when i was 14. Oh but i MORE than get it now that im 25. 30 here i come!

I've been struggling w/ who I am and finding about about my insecurities. So times I feel too young for things…hmm… Anywhoo, I think 30 is a great age. They say it's the new 20. lol.

Yes 30's are def the new 20's (or maybe that's just something we tell ourselves lol). You're head is a little more clear, a little more focused…and you have been there and done that so now you can make wiser choices…you have all those mistakes under your belt lol… I entered the club 2yrs ago… welcome welcome!

I'm in my late 20's now so 30 is coming up for me soon but I feel more confident with myself then I did in my early 20's and I care less what others think of me now that I'm almost 30. It's amazing how different I am now then when I was an insecure 20 year old with not that much life experience but I still thought I knew it all. lol Everyone that I know who has past their 30's now have told me their 30's were the best time of their life and wayyyyy better then their 20's. I used to be scared of the big 3-0 but now I'm looking forward to it and can't wait to leave my 20's and all the insecurities of being 20-something behind!

Nice list… but, I'm still scared to turn 25 lol I only have two more years before I turn a quarter of a century ….But yea anywho I think really you're as young and old as you feel…Age means nothing!

  6. TYLRMD says:

This list was a good read for me esp. since this is the year I turn 30. Along with most my friends…we are all planning big extravaganzas to celebrate the 3-0. I think its due to the fact that we didn't waste time in our 20's trying to make things happen…we were part of the things happening and its time to credit ourselves for our accomplishments but in other cases it maybe the "lack of" and 3-0 is the BREAK out year to get what you wanted done in your 20's accomplished.

I like the way you posed that. Not wasting time trying to make things happen, but instead enjoying the life experiences happening all around and making the best of them. That's the beauty of young adult-hood! Congrats on turning 30 this year. A new phase in life begins, it certainly has for me. Enjoy it. 🙂
